Affordable Therapy Services with Clinical Interns

Affordable therapy sessions are available through our Clinical Training Internship Program at IO, PLLC. Services are provided by Doctoral Interns, MSW Interns, Marriage and Family Therapy Interns, Addictions Counseling Interns, and Mental Health Counseling Interns under the direct supervision of Dr. McIlwaine.

This program was developed to offer high-quality counseling services at a reduced rate while also providing advanced clinical training for graduate-level students.

Session Rates:

  • $125 for a 60-minute individual session (weekly)
  • $150 for a 90-minute session

These services are ideal for individuals seeking professional, consistent care at an affordable cost. Interns are available year-round and provide weekly counseling sessions. All interns are currently enrolled in accredited Master’s or Doctoral programs and are gaining advanced clinical experience in areas such as:

  • Child and adolescent counseling
  • Marriage and family therapy
  • Domestic violence
  • Substance use treatment
  • Anger and stress management
  • Conflict resolution
  • Mental health and behavioral disorders

Each intern commits to a one-year, hands-on training experience with IO, PLLC.


Clinical Training & Supervision

At IO, PLLC, Dr. McIlwaine and her clinical training team provide both individual and group supervision to support the development of strong clinical skills. Interns receive training and practical experience in a wide range of evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training
  • Mindfulness techniques
  • Prepare/Enrich for couples work
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Prime for Life curriculum
  • Domestic violence counseling
  • Brief Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Person-Centered Therapy
  • Anger management treatment
  • Substance use and DWI treatment
  • Group therapy facilitation
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Family therapy
  • Crisis intervention

Interns are also trained in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and the implementation of clinical interventions across a variety of service areas. Dr. McIlwaine holds the Approved Clinical Supervisor credential, ensuring a high standard of training and oversight.


Research & Professional Development

The program also includes a research component, giving interns the opportunity to engage in counseling psychology research. Areas of focus include:

  • Substance use disorders, health, and prevention
  • DWI treatment options and populations served
  • Anger management assessment and treatment
  • Relationship development and maintenance
  • Domestic violence and prevention strategies

Dr. McIlwaine continues to expand research initiatives to reflect current and emerging needs within the field.
